If you are a WordPress.com user using a custom domain, it is time for you to rejoice. With the help of a new feature introduced recently, you will now be able to easily setup your email address using your custom domain directly from your WordPress.com admin panel.
Attracta, WordPress’ parent company has recently introduced email forwarding feature which would let you forward emails received on your custom domain to any other email address you specify. This way, you will be able to receive all the email sent to the custom domain right there in your regular inbox. Let us have a look how you can activate this great feature.
Activating email Forwarding for Custom Domains
Activating email forwarding for your custom domain is quite easy on WordPress.com. You can activate this just with a few clicks in your WordPress.com admin console.
- Go to Store –> Domains in the admin console.
- You will see the option to add a new custom domain if you do not already have a custom domain. Add a new custom domain to your blog.
- If you already have a custom domain set up, you will see an option Manage Emails right next to your custom domain. Click on it.
- In the page that has opened, enter the new custom email address that you want to create in the Emails sent to field and the destination email address in the Emails sent to field.
And you’re done! With these few simple steps, you are ready to receive emails on your new custom email address in your old inbox itself. However, there are a few limitations if you have a free blog account with WordPress.
You can add only up to five forwarding rules. For example, you can create five different custom email addresses forwarded to the same or different emails. This is apt for anyone who has a small business or someone who just needs a custom email address to give a more professional look to his/her blog. For someone with more advanced needs, there is always the option to upgrade to any of the paid plans of WordPress.com.
There is a catch though. If you are already using any third party email-forwarding service on your blog (which many people are using), the default email forwarding feature will be disabled on your blog.
