Exams can be a difficult time for even the most diligent student. But, no more worries since here are some of the useful and efficient study tips or tools to ensure that you are organized and confident on the day of Exam.
Last Minute Study Tips
Know what’s big in your syllabus
The first thing you need to know before beginning is to know what you are required to study which can be nothing else, but your syllabus. You just cannot go wrong in this, since that is the only thing which is meant for you to prepare. Teachers and lecturers have a standard set of objectives that are required to be achieved by the students. Find out which topic carries maximum marks and revise accordingly. You can also refer CBSE syllabus online for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology of classes 6 to 12.
Focus on your weak spots
Since you are preparing at the last minute, you don’t have time to revise all the study notes, NCERT textbooks or class material. Instead, you can go through the index and find out the topics that seem difficult to recall and mark them quickly. Now, focus on those points and start brushing up on your weak spots so that you are well prepared and confident enough to face the questions that were troubling you before.
For instance, you may find it difficult to remember the atomic number of every element in a periodic table for your chemistry exam. By allocating some extra time and referring the table chart on the front wall of your study desk, you can recall the atomic number of any element at the date of exam.
Use flashcards
You can also make use of flashcards which is a tried and true study tool and a clever trick. You can use different colored flash cards to write down different terms that you don’t want to forget in your final exam. They can be important maths formulas, chemical reactions or explanatory diagram. Flashcards help in enhancing your visual learning skills along with memory recall ability.
Block out any distractions
You need to have a distraction free zone to prepare adequately at the last minute. You can keep the door closed so that everyone in the home knows that you are studying and leave you undisturbed. You can also keep the windows blocked to avoid the unwanted noise around you.
If you are in a place like a library, you can turn off your cellphone or put it on a silent mode so that it cannot distract you or break your concentration.
You can also shield yourself by turning off your wi-fi connection to avoid notifications from social media, news and software updates.
Get a good night’s sleep
According to studies, a good and a complete night’s sleep helps you perform better in an exam. You must review your notes and points before going to bed but try to have at least eight hours of sleep in the night prior the exam. Set the alarm to ensure that you don’t panic when you wake up and have enough time to enter the exam hall on time with a calm mind. Above all, have faith in yourself, as a strong belief can do wonders. Best of Luck.
