Sony Xperia Z is based on a new design, known as the omnibalance design which is all about proper 90 degree combination angles, flat glossy sides and weight distribution. The Sony Xperia Z does not have a “plastic” feel all around. It is a solid creation, has mirrored sides and is the first Sony phone with 1080p display. It uses their new Bravia Mobile Engine 2 platform. The mobile has a cool 5 inches touchscreen, a 13 megapixel camera and 1.5GHz Quadcore snapdragon.

Sony Xperia Z Display
The resolution of Xperia Z is better than Xperia T, and the screen density is 443 pixels per inch. This means you will get to see a crisper view of photos, richer images and sharp fonts. Their new thin display, the OptiContrast panel, is not that super cool as compared to HTC Super LCD 3. When you move the screen or tilt it, you cannot read the screen properly, it become a bit discolored, especially when it is under bright sunlight.
The phone could do better with adjusted contrast settings. The homepage seems very bright but still it does not help to see clearly under, for instance, sunlight. The Mobile Bravia Engine 2 platform helps to enhance phone apps and the media center. Any kind of videos can be tweaked into brighter or darker shades. Low quality YouTube videos can be improved as well. There is a separate filter for tweaking sharpness on edges.
Sony Xperia Z Camera
The camera is the debut for Exmor RS sensor. The sensor is all about better signal processing and matching the image size and quality. The camera gives you HDR video quality that brings in a wider range of lighting options. The camera offers a better light composition, that is, a better light balance. There is the “Auto i+” feature which helps to adjust white balance, ISO and toggles HDR. Most of the camera settings can be placed on the homescreen. The Xperia Z device has a “burst mode” to capture at least 10 frames every second if you are using the 9 megapixel resolution. Both the image and video camera can work simultaneously. You can take camera shots while recording a video as well.
Sony Xperia Z Software
The Sony Xperia Z device runs on Android Jelly Bean, version 4.1.2. There is an expandable power widget and a Rolodex style gallery widget. Its media library has Google Play and their own collection of movies and music. You can buy and download movies from the Video Unlimited catalogue. If you have an account with Sony Entertainment Network, the payment procedure is seamless. You can use the same username for Sony Play Station. The downloaded movie quality is good if not excellent. The entertainment module uses Gracenote to show movie cast list and plays back DivX videos.
You also have Walkman, a collection of music. There is a premium option available but if you already have Spotify.com application, there will not be any use for Walkman app. Some of its other apps include Office Suite, Sony Car, Dropbox, File Commander, Sony Wi-Fi and Social Life. It also combines Facebook and Twitter to give you a common RSS update link.
