If you are a smart phone or tablet owner then its most likely that you will use it for gaming at least for some time. In our modern, massively connected world, online gaming is one of the top uses for mobile devices. Although deciding whether a phone or a tablet is best for gaming will depend very much on your lifestyle and the type of games you enjoy. For instance many people play online games for real money on their mobile devices while others might play big multi player games that are usually associated with consoles.
For massive multi player games, the device needs to have a fast processor and graphics. It is perhaps a little ironic that today’s smartphones tend to be faster than tablets. While we can get smartphones with up to eight core microprocessors, the computing power of tablets is still way behind.
For online games the processing power of the device is really not very important. These kinds of games can run on even fairly basic smartphones; you don’t need eight core graphics processors to play blackjack. However you are likely to benefit from the larger displays usually associated with tablets. However with the latest smartphones even that advantage is diminishing. These smartphones have displays that are almost as large as the smaller tablets. The trend seems to be that tablets are getting smaller while smartphones are getting larger.
The other issue is portability. Generally it is easier to carry a smartphone around with you compared to a tablet, although carrying a large smartphone or a small tablet around may not make much difference. If you quickly want to play a game when you are standing in a queue, smartphone may be a better choice. It is also less likely to draw others attention towards you. But, as said earlier, the decision of choosing smart phones or tablets for gaming mainly depends on the kind of games you wish to play.
