Oppo A83 Review
Design & Display
Launched in January 2018, the Oppo A83 smartphone has a 5.7-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1,450x720p and pixel density of 282 ppi. The power key is on the right side, and above it has a slot for two Nano-SIMs and one microSD card. There’s a Micro-USB port, 3.5mm audio socket, and speaker grille on the bottom. The volume rocker is on the left-hand side. The primary camera is on the top left corner. As expected, the Android navigation buttons are on-screen. A fingerprint sensor is not available on the device. However, manufacturer picked the “Face Unlock” feature instead of fingerprint sensor which works fairly well in good light most of the times. Device dimensions make it easy to operate single-handedly. User responsive UI comes with a unified home screen and app drawer. The touchscreen answers swiftly and offers a multi-touch facility.
Performance
The Oppo A83 is powered by 2.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6737T processor and it comes with Mali G71 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The phone packs 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to a maximum capacity of 256GB via a microSD card. Users get around 21.5GB for their use out of 32GB of storage onboard. The OPPO A83 runs on Android 7.1, with a custom user interface Color OS 3.2.
During our moderate to high-level usability, the smartphone offered decent performance and we didn’t encounter any lag. Even while operating resource-intensive apps such as Hotstar and Facebook and games such as Shadow Fight 3 without any stutter or overheating. In nutshell, an Oppo A83 is a great handset for mid-range use and you are able to run everything on it.
Camera
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Oppo A83 packs a 13-megapixel primary camera with single-tone LED flash and an aperture of f/2.2 on the rear and an 8-megapixel front shooter with f/2.2 aperture and “AI beauty” tool for selfies. In addition to it, the primary camera also features ISO control, HDR mode, continuous shooting, and autoflash face detection. The primary camera boasts good skills to record videos in Full-HD resolution. The “AI beauty” tool is very responsive and impressive in the 8MP selfie shooter. The tool has the capabilities to cover all the marks and spots on the face and brightened it to the maximum. In terms of the quality, the camera lets you capture selfies with a depth-of-field effect even in poorly-lit settings.
Battery & Connectivity
The Oppo A83 is fuelled by a non-removable Li-ion battery with a capacity of 3,090 mAh and comes with a 10W charger. The device’s performance is smooth enough on the low-level usage and even on the high usage; it manages to last long on a single charge. The A83 also boasts good gaming performance even while playing Marvel’s Contest of Champions and Asphalt 8: Airborne. More importantly, the smartphone didn’t heat up even after extensive usage. During our intensive usability include 30 minutes of calls, GPS for navigation, 4G data, listening to podcasts, watching movies and gaming, the smartphone still had some fluid left at the end of the day.
