This situation might have been faced by you when your computer memory was not enough and you want to store some huge data on your computer. This is quite a common problem faced by computer users. There are various methods to overcome this problem, but to choose the best option is indeed a difficult task. One of the most preferred and potentially safe options is to import foreign disk to your PC so that your hard drive memory is increased and you can store the files you want. However, proper methodology needs to be followed for doing this in the right manner.
The process is to add the disk to the Operating System of your computer so that data on the disk can be accessed easily. Now, the very first step is to open ‘Disk Management’ and select the foreign disk. After selecting the foreign disk, right click on the ‘Import foreign disks’ option and you will see the invisible and inaccessible volume of the data on the disk.
After selecting the ‘Import foreign disk’ option and viewing the files, you have to convert it into the basic disk. For doing so, there is only one way which is to delete all the volumes on the dynamic disk of Windows. If you right click on ‘Foreign Disk’ and choose ‘Convert to Basic Disk’, all your data will be lost instantly and you will not be able to restore it. So, to complete the task without losing your valuable data, below mentioned are the steps:
Step 1: You have to download software that will prevent you from losing all the data. Here, we are taking the example of AOMEI Dynamic Disk Converter into consideration.
Step 2: After installation, start the software and you can skip the welcome page. A new window will appear as shown below in the screenshot:
Now, select the radio button opposite to ‘Method 1’ and click on the ‘Next’ button to proceed.
Step 3: A new pop-up window will appear and you will see a list of dynamic disks there. Now, choose the dynamic foreign disk which you want to add and click on the ‘Next’ button.
Step 4: After clicking on the ‘Next’ button, you will see a new window. If you want to continue, check the checkbox ‘I have decided to execute the operation…’ and click the ‘Proceed’ button. The entire process will take just 2-3 minutes to complete.
When this process completes, you will be prompted with a window that will ask you to restart your PC. Once the restart the process gets completed, you will have the foreign disk successfully installed without deleting any important data.
