The new version in the Android family, Android 9 Pie, is officially released and this newest Android version is tested by 140,000 beta testers before the release. During the starting of this year, Google announced its collaboration with the seven OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) with the purpose of bringing the beta releases of Android Pie with their best devices. The Pixel handset users will have the initial experience of Android Pie as it will be available on original Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The platform of Android 9 Pie is far more improved than Android Oreo as it has the noteworthy feature of the gesture-based navigation system. It was inspired from the feature of iPhone X and does not have the usual three-button navigation.
Download and Install Android 9 Pie
It was already declared that Android 9 Pie is initially available for the Pixel users and the update is live as an over-the-air (OTA) package. The users can manually check its availability on the Pixel handsets by opening the Settings > Software updates. Also, an easy way of downloading the Android 9 Pie on your Pixel phone is by visiting the website of Android Beta program on your Pixel phone and Sign up using your Google account. The next step will be to check for eligible devices for the update of Android Pie. Then, you can go on with the process by clicking on the Opt option if your device is listed on the website. Finally, after the completion of the OTA update, you will get notifications on your phone.
It was also announced by Google that companies like Essential, OnePlus, Sony, Oppo, HMD Global, Xiaomi and Vivo that joined the Beta programme will also get the updates by the end of this fall. Also, devices that fall under the Android One initiative like Essential PH-1, OnePlus 6, Nokia 7 Plus, Sony Xperia XZ2, Oppo R15 Pro, Vivo X21 UD, Vivo X21 and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S will also get the updates during the time of roll out. The Chief Executive Officer of Google, Sundar Pichai, is working with several OEMs for the purpose of bringing Android 9 to the devices during the fall of 2018. - Just like iPhone X, the improved navigation system of Android Pie can be operated by the single home button.
- The full-screen previews of the recently used apps can be viewed by swiping the home button.
- A personalized experience is offered to the users by the features of Adaptive Brightness and Adaptive Battery.
- With the help of this version, the users can switch between multiple apps just by swiping.
- The visual interruptions can be turned off by the upgraded “Do Not Disturb” mode.
- The user is able to activate the Google Assistant just by pressing and holding the home button.
- This version has a unique feature called App Actions that is able to predict the next move of the user just by judging the context.
