Configuration of Printer with PC can be done in two manners which include wireless printer setup and network or individual printer set up. The steps of general installation are similar. However, options may vary in case of different operating systems such as UNIX or Linux. This article highlights the steps involved in printer installation in Windows 7.
Step 1: Click on Start-> Control Panel-> Hardware and Sound->Devices and Printers
Step 2: Select ‘Add a Printer’ option from the above window and you will be prompted for a new window. This window will ask you about the kind of printer do you wish to install – Local or Network.
Step 3: After selecting the particular printer type, it will start searching and ask you the port on which you will like to install the printer.
Step 4: You should select the particular port, and then the window will ask you to select the manufacturer or printer and its software. You can select the desired options here. You can use Hard disk option if you have kept printers driver on any disk location of your computer.
Step 5: Then the next window that appears will ask you to add printer name and shows the message that this printer will be installed with its appropriate driver.
Step 6: After selecting the desired option window will display which will ask you do you want to share this printer. You can select the desired option there also.
Step 7: Then it will ask you do you want to take printout of a test page. You should select the option as YES and check the printing status of the same.
Wireless Printer: If you have to configure the printer in network mode, then click on Devices and Printers in case of Windows 7 and assign the printer to a dedicated wireless network. Then, add your printer to the available network and follow the above mentioned steps. The printer will be installed. Don’t forget to test the configuration of printer after taking test printouts. Step 1: In this case, first of all, make sure that the printer you own should have a wireless router or wireless network adapters.
Step 2: Second, you must power on the wireless router and your printer. Always prefer to use a router of authorized companies.
Step 3: Third, configure your printer to connect to the dedicated wireless router.
Step 4: The last but most important step is to verify the connectivity of the connection being established between wireless router and printer. You can do so by taking some test printouts. However, if this does not work then you will have to check the IP address.
