Design & Build
The Amazon Kindle Oasis tablet features a 7.0-inch screen which packs the same 300 pixels per inch and Paperwhite display technology with E Ink Carta. It measures 159 mm tall and 141 mm wide. The Oasis weighs 194 grams. The bigger panel makes the Oasis 2 less pocketable. The device bundled with an IPX8 certification making it water resistant up to 2 meters in fresh water for up to 60 minutes. There is a power/standby button on the top and a micro USB charging and data transfer port below.

Page-turn buttons are placed on the right-hand side. All the buttons feature a good amount of tactility. The bezel and the display are flawless. Water resistance is one of the notable features of the device. Another handy addition is the auto-brightness option which adjusts the light according to the environment. The device is comfortable to hold, and the touchscreen is quite responsive. There are plenty of formatting, typeface, size and display settings. The overall feel of the new Kindle Oasis is smooth, intuitive and responsive.
Hardware & Performance
The Kindle Oasis is powered with the new dual-core 1GHz processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. The Kindle Oasis comes in 8 GB and 32 GB variants. One of the main appealing features is support for Audible playback on the device.

The new Oasis lacks headphone jack. But there is Bluetooth connectivity that lets you connect the device to a Bluetooth headphone or speaker. There are two options to turn pages by using the physical page turn buttons and by tapping the screen. The UI on the Oasis appears slightly different from the previous models. The homepage displays the three most recently read books from your library upfront.
The Settings menu is quite detailed letting you modify wireless settings, change language and dictionaries include parental controls, vocabulary builder flash cards are also present on the Oasis and much more.
Battery & Charging
The larger battery is integrated into the new Kindle Oasis which is capable of “six weeks of reading”. Amazon claims the Kindle Oasis provides about 6 weeks of use even at my slow pace. The battery charges faster than the previous generation models as there is no battery housing cover with the new device.
The Kindle supports Wi-Fi b/g/n and 3G cellular data. The Kindle supports a wide range of book formats: Kindle Format 8 (AZW3), Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively, HTML, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion.

The Oasis is priced at Rs 21,999 for the 8 GB WI-Fi variant and Rs 27,999 for the 32 GB WI-Fi and 3G models.

Verdict
The Kindle Oasis is a premium e-reader targeted for die-hard e-reader fans. Water-resistance, bigger screen, and Audible integration make it more appealing than previous Kindles.
